Sports & Remedial Massage & Injury Rehabilitation

Sports & Remedial Massage is NOT just for sports people. Whether you sit at a desk all day, are a busy parent or a manual labourer, these factors can lead to muscle tension, poor posture and muscle imbalances. Unless it is relieved, muscle tension can increase over time and result in stress and pain within the muscles, joints and tendons. Regular massage can help reduce the risk of injury in those with active lifestyles and improve your quality of life.

If you are an athlete or train regularly Sports Massage should be an essential part of your training programme to aid recovery, improve performance, help prevent injury.

Rehabilitation, Strengthening & Conditioning Programmes

The focus is on transforming you from your injured state back to a level of health & sporting activity.  I use a combination of pilates, strengthening and conditioning exercises, which will include a home exercise prescription.

Pilates: A routine that combines mind and body. It is a way to improve strength, co-ordination, flexibility and muscle tone using controlled floor based exercises. These sessions could be on a 1:1 basis or as part of your homework programme.

Strengthening & Conditioning: Exercises will be prescribed to specifically address: muscle weakness, tightness, muscle imbalance and poor core strength. This could be within a PT style session or part of your homework.

Testimonials

“I’ve been going to Helen for the past 4 years. She is very professional and thoughtful. She always explains everything from my health to my back injuries. Her monthly sports massages are a godsend as I train 6 times a week and my job is very stressful on my back. With Helen’s help I’m able to be more in control of my diet and health. She is a precious gem!!”

Helen has been helping my wife and I with fitness routines and sports massages on a weekly basis for 12 years. We are both in our 60s and thanks to Helen we are able to enjoy activities and participate in sport to an extent and level usually only enjoyed by those considerably younger. Her attention to detail is such that we get the most out of the time we spend with her.

When occasional aches and pains occur Helen who is also trained in injury rehab is often able to understand the cause and help alleviate the problem through a combination of exercise and massage and when necessary, leave us with improvement routines we can manage ourselves.

Our very active lives are so much better thanks to Helen”
